Music school in Vienna

Music school in Vienna. This school has many departments in almost every district of Vienna and also branches in elementary schools. Music classes take place afternoon, so they do not collide with regular school.

The Vienna Music School offers singing, dancing, ballet and instrumental classes. In each department they teach various instruments, so it’s good to get information at the Open House of the Vienna Music School (you can find the program and the school adresses here: http://www.wien.gv.at/bildung/schulen/musikschule/

The school is liable to pay costs. The costs (around 80 Euro for one semester) vary according to the number of students of a group. Due to the fact that the Music School is a public school, you can apply for financial aid. By comparing the Music Schol to private music lessons (20-30Euro/1h), the costs are not that high.
Children participating  in the choir (ABC-Chor, Kinderchor, Kinderkammerchor), also take part in an annual concert “Festliches Singen” in the Konzerthaus in May/June.
Older children (>12 years) can register into the Kinderchor or the Kinderkammerchor. However they have to sing two songs for an audition. These auditions take place in September.
If a particular elementary school has a branche of the Vienna Music School, you will find this information in that school.
At the end of the school year children get a school certificate. This certificate will be credited at higher music schools, if the child wants to continue the musical path. Who knows, maybe it will be the next Mozart.
